Due to the cost of MS Project licences and the sporadic experience os team members in MS Project vs excel I find in many projects that the maintenance of of the MS Project plan becomes full time task and team members prefer to use excel for tracking tasks. This article is first in a series of articles that tackles the extraction of an MS Project file into Python, manipulation in Python to produce an Excel output and the return journey into MS Project as a means to collate updates to MS Project tasks.
